Immediately after the emergence of Bangladesh in 1971, were the former United Bank Limited and Union Bank Limited renamed Janata Bank. History: Sonali Bank was established in 1972 under the Bangladesh Banks (Nationalisation) Order, through the merger and the nationalization of the branches of the National Bank of Pakistan, the Bank of Bhowalpur and Premier Bank branches located in East Pakistan until 1971 the Bangladesh Liberation War.
